An interesting article on Macrumors indicates that the ‘Teams’ feature of OS X Leopard Server could, in all likelihood, be a direct competitor to MS Sharepoint.
The beauty is that there would be no expensive, restrictive CALs, it will be cross platform accessible and it will be nearly standards based. IT departments all over the world are salivating at this wiki/group calendar/blog/podcasting monster…throw in webDav and Time Machine and oh boy, now we’re cooking with gas!
A one stop shop for letting disparate groups of people access information easily, readily and without the nightmare configuration of Sharepoint? Sign me up!
All we need now is tighter integration of Spotlight, Server Mail, Webmail (Squirrel) and iCal, and we have ourselves an honest to God Exchange killer. Again, where do I sign up and here, please take my money.
Maybe they’ll rename it to iIntranet?
